They say no shoe removal, but what's the plan for shoes with obvious metal - my winter boots have hooks for the laces. I can just imagine the scenario with people thinking there won't be a problem, then there is.

Steel-toe boots and similar footwear with metal may need to be removed, but this depends on the machine used to screen you. For example, if you're walking through a metal detector, you'll need to remove them.

I opened up this newsletter literally saying “so we don’t remember the shoe bomber?!” SMH. Politics over actual real safety will NEVER be it.

The "shoe bomber" boarded in Paris, not in the U.S.

It's not even a foregone conclusion that Reid's shoe bombs would've downed the plane.

It took 5 years for no-shoe policies to even kick in.

It was a make-everybody-feel-good thing rather than a necessity.

It was long-running security theater.

Be glad it's over.
